Robert-Houdin: A man of science from the middle of the 19th century. Ar Andr Keime Robert-Houdin. Like all researchers at the time, Robert-Houdin is seized by the passion for knowledge and progress. Despite the modesty of the material means they have, these scholars, artisans of knowledge, have obtained results that surprise us. A romantic imagination, an acute sense of observation, an exceptional manual skill, these qualities, put at the service of lively intelligence, were necessary for the success of their work: Robert-Houdin the prestidigator was one of them. Illusionism had been a wonderful formation for him, which, over the years, had given this spirit eager for new things and inventions, the possibility of realizing his dreams. If he had not been a prestities of genius, Robert-Houdin may not have been a scientist. In his retirement from the priory, in Saint-Gervais, near Blois, for almost twenty years, he devoted himself to work appreciated by the scientific circles of the time. This part of his life is little known, if not unknown. Born in Saint-Gervais, in this same village where the priory is located,His great-grandson, Andr Keime Robert-Houdin wanted to get to forget this active and fruitful period of the existence of his ancestor. In the appendix to this work, scientific brochures published by Robert-Houdin are reissued between 1867 and 1869. These documents, now not found, are interested not only those who wish to better know Robert-Houdin, but also those who are curious about the methods of scientific research practiced in the 1860s.
