While everyone knows “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” Burt Bacharach’s complete score for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid represents some of his most adventurous cinematic work. This Canadian A&M pressing captures Bacharach at a fascinating crossroads, where his sophisticated pop sensibilities meet the dusty romance of the American West. The orchestral arrangements here showcase a different side of his compositional genius – less chamber pop, more sweeping Americana, but with those unmistakable Bacharach harmonic twists that made him the most sought-after composer in Hollywood.
